IES KINDERGARTEN

PERSONAL, SOCIAL & EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Kindergarten is that haven of learning, where children below the age of compulsory education play and learn. Kindergarten was coined by German educator Friedrich Frobel in the year 1840, literally meaning “Children’s garden.” It was an earnest attempt made by this great visionary, to develop intelligence in young children.

During the first few days, the teachers put in a lot of effort to make the children comfortable, in settling down in the new atmosphere, followed by setting classroom schedules. Each child is evaluated, based on their behavioural and intellectual capabilities and help is sought from the in-house therapist for those children, whom the teacher finds incapable.

The activities and the style of teaching at the Kindergarten, vary from school to school. Bhavans believes in an all-inclusive learning at Kindergarten, where equal importance is given to reading, writing, drawing, colouring, singing, narrating and above all playing. Children are also trained to develop good and healthy eating habits. Bhavans can also boast of a learning centre for kindergarten where some of the concepts are taught through activity-based learning. Each class teacher is allotted at least two periods a week for activity-based learning at the learning centre. Lots of activities are done and different days are celebrated like, the Colour Day, Toy Day, Creative Hat Day, Lemonade Day, Mother’s Day, Grandparents Day, Show and Tell, Republic Day etc. The different festivals like, Diwali, Eid and Christmas are also celebrated, and assemblies are organized. Competitions like, Group Rhyme and Individual Rhyme Competition, Art Competition, Fancy Dress etc. are also conducted. Finally, the Kindergarten Annual Day is celebrated along with the Upper Kindergarten Graduation. The whole year through the teachers are seen brainstorming, for innovative themes and ideas, and eventually they do come up with a “Kaleidoscope of Creativity!”

Kindergarten lets the children bloom like flowers, dancing playing, rejoicing, sharing, caring, learning and above all understanding. Let each child flutter like a butterfly in this little haven of learning and may they be guided towards the light of wisdom and emerge as winners in their chosen fields of learning. We wish them the very best!!
